Frequently asked questions about Matrix RF microneedling
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream, and an air cooler during treatment, keep it very comfortable for most patients. You will feel warmth and light prickling as the needles deliver radiofrequency energy.
How much downtime should I plan for?
Most patients look pink for 1 to 2 days and can wear makeup the next day.
Can it improve acne scars?
Yes, it is one of our main treatments for rolling and boxcar scars. Deep ice-pick scars may also need TCA CROSS or subcision, which we plan together.
How is it different from HIFU?
Matrix RF microneedling works from the upper skin layers down to about 3.5 mm, tightening the skin and improving texture, pores and scars. Is it safe for darker or Asian skin?
Yes, with the right settings. Because the energy is delivered under the surface, the risk of pigmentation is lower than with many resurfacing lasers.
What aftercare do I need?
Gentle cleansing, a soothing moisturiser and strict sunscreen for at least two weeks. Avoid actives such as retinoids until the skin settles.
