Who Can Benefit
Fotona’s Nd:YAG wavelength is absorbed by the blood in small visible vessels. The vessel closes and is gradually cleared by the body, so the redness or line fades, while the surrounding skin is protected. Once cleared, treated vessels are permanently removed, though new ones can form over time. It is safe for all skin types.
- Broken capillaries on the nose and cheeks
- Facial redness from small visible vessels
- Small spider veins on the legs
- Small red spots (cherry angiomas)
Larger leg veins may need sclerotherapy, and a doctor assessment comes first to rule out underlying vein problems.
We postpone treatment during pregnancy, with a fresh tan, or with an infection in the area.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do treated veins come back?
Treated vessels are permanently removed, but new ones can form over time, especially with sun exposure, heat, skin irritation from harsh actives, or long-term use of steroid creams. Occasional top-ups may help.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 2 to 3, spaced 4 weeks apart.
Does it hurt?
Most patients feel a quick hot snap. Cooling is used for comfort.
Fotona or sclerotherapy for leg veins?
Fotona suits small spider veins. Larger veins usually respond better to sclerotherapy. We may combine them.
Is there downtime?
Mild redness or slight swelling for a day or two. Avoid hot baths, saunas and strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
Fotona laser also treats open pores, acne and acne scars, pigmentation and melasma, skin brightening, fine lines, non-surgical facelift (Fotona 4D) and keloid scars.
