Who Can Benefit
Hair thins when follicles weaken and shrink. PRF is prepared from a small sample of your own blood and injected into the scalp, where its growth factors support weakened follicles, so shedding slows and hair grows thicker over the following months.
- Early to moderate thinning in men and women
- A widening parting or thinning crown
- Increased shedding
- Patients who want to add to medication or other hair treatments
PRF works best while follicles are still active. Areas that are already bald do not regrow. We often combine it with Fotona HAIRestart laser or hair exosome therapy, and with medications or supplements where suitable.
We postpone treatment during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or with an infection on the scalp, and we discuss it first if you have a blood or platelet disorder or take blood-thinning medication.
Frequently Asked Questions
When will I see results?
Shedding often slows within 1 to 2 months, and thicker growth shows from about 3 months.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually 3 to 5, spaced 4 weeks apart, then maintenance.
How long do results last?
Typically 9 to 12 months with maintenance.
Does it hurt?
Numbing is applied first. Most patients feel pressure and mild stinging.
Is there downtime?
The scalp may feel tender for a day. Avoid washing your hair until the next day.
What is the difference between PRF and PRP?
Both are made from your own blood. PRP is spun at a high speed with an anticoagulant, which separates the platelets into a liquid that releases most of its growth factors within hours. PRF is spun at a lower speed without anticoagulant, so it keeps more platelets and white blood cells and forms a soft fibrin gel that releases growth factors gradually over about a week, giving longer support to hair follicles and collagen.
PRF also treats acne scars, open pores, fine lines, stretch marks, vaginal rejuvenation and penile rejuvenation.
